Green Lipped Mussel
Green-lipped mussels are marine shellfish native to the pristine waters of New Zealand. They are renowned for their effectiveness in reducing joint inflammation and pain, alleviating fatigue, and helping with hangovers.
The unique anti-inflammatory properties of green-lipped mussels stem from the plankton they consume. In New Zealand's oceans, plankton produce natural anti-inflammatory substances as a defense against ultraviolet radiation. As green-lipped mussels feed on these plankton, they naturally absorb these beneficial compounds.
Rich in unsaturated fatty acids such as DHA, EPA, DPA, and ALA, green-lipped mussels help manage inflammation by regulating immune cell activity. Their anti-inflammatory action is estimated to be 200–300 times stronger than that of evening primrose or flaxseed oil. Additionally, green-lipped mussels inhibit the production of leukotrienes, compounds responsible for triggering inflammation in the body, making them highly effective in relieving joint pain and improving overall joint health.
