Propolis
Propolis is a natural substance created by honey bees by mixing sap (resin), beeswax, pollen, and their own secretions, including saliva and enzymes. Bees use propolis to seal and protect their hives from external threats like viruses and bacteria. This ensures that the honeycomb, which houses tens of thousands of bees at warm internal temperatures ideal for bacterial growth, remains sterile and free of pathogens.
Propolis is rich in flavonoids, which are known for their powerful antioxidant properties. Unlike plant-derived flavonoids that may contain sugars, the flavonoids in propolis are sugar-free and possess unique antibacterial properties not found in other sources. These qualities make propolis a potent natural defense against microbial threats and a valuable ingredient for supporting health and immunity.
